Whats in my make-up bag

I’m not going to lie, I’m such a nosey person. I love having the opportunity to gander into someone else’s life. And of course their make-up collection, naturally. So after spending hours on end looking at make-up collections of youtubers and bloggers, I decided I’d give the world a chance to have a peek into mine. It’d only be fair, wouldn’t it?

This is my everyday make-up bag that I tend to shove in my uni bag as I’m legging it out of the house because I’m late for the bus (this isn’t something that happens to me all the time… honest! (I lie it totally does)). I stick all of what I class as make-up essentials in here and these are things I might find I need when I take a cheeky trip into the toilet at some point during my day and do a quick make-up touch up. I received this make up bag as a Christmas present, I have no idea what make it is sadly, but I love the blue lacey pattern on the front of it, and it’s just the right size for all my products to fit comfortably inside it.

I’ve already written a post about this concealer- I love it that much. A firm favourite of mine and just about every other blogger by the looks of it!

Seventeen powder blush in Plum Puff

More of an autumn/winter blush colour for me. Being slightly on the darker pink side its perfect for creating a more smokey, deep plum make-up look.

Collection black kohl eyeliner

Just a standard kohl eyeliner. Does the job.

Collection Fast Stroke black liquid liner

Probably heading to being the make-up item in my collection that I simply cannot live without. Absolutely love this liner.

Rimmel eyebrow pencil in 002 Hazel

Another holy grail make-up item. Raved about by most people.

Rimmel Volume Flash Scandaleyes Mascara

Although in a previous post I gave this mascara a bit of a mixed review, it’s really started to grow on me, and I actually really enjoy using this product now.

Real Techniques Foundation Brush

Real Techniques brushes are just amazing. Love love love this.

Blush Brush

Unknown make- another past Christmas prezzie!

Turns out I really like Collection and Rimmel cosmetics…

Hope you’ve enjoyed having a bit of a nosey in what I carry round with me in my make-up bag. I of course have a lot more make up tucked away in my draws at home, but it would be pretty hard to try and fit it all in just one bag now wouldn’t it?!

Nail of the Day | Geometric Metallics

20140918_150302   20140918_150340

I know I’ve already posted today. But I’ve just painted my nails and simply couldn’t resist sharing my nail of the day with you all!

After giving my nails a few days to breathe after removing my previous dark blue nail, I replaced it with a more metallic, slightly geometric number. Being right handed made painting this design onto my right hand a bit of a mare, but with a pretty steady hand I think I’ve just about managed to get it all looking nice and even across both of my hands!

To create this look I used Rimmel London Metal Rush in 60 Royal Blue on the base (sadly I don’t think they sell this anymore), then used one of my nail art polishes in silver to create the geometric pattern. I love love love how this has turned out.

Product Review | Rimmel Nude Pink Lipstick

      20140910_184845  20140910_185017

As a student with no income other than my student loan, I’m pretty stingy when it comes to splashing the cash on things such as make up. I like to really think about a product (arguably sometimes for longer than necessary) before I go out and purchase it. But something I’ve really been loving at the moment is a coral lip. I’m still quite shy when it comes to my make-up choices, and I often find myself leaning towards a more understated look than something bold such as a bright red statement lip. A more subtle coral coloured lipstick is something I thought would nicely add a little bit of colour to a look without being too crazy, so I decided to make the effort to go out and find one to add to my collection.

With having such a pale complexion, finding make-up that won’t look completely ridiculous on me can be quite the task, but after spending a LOT of time scouring the lengths of the make-up stands of my local drugstores, I came across the Nude Pink lipstick by Rimmel.

The name suggests anything but coral, but I found that this is a nice subtle pink lipstick with coral undertones within it. The pigmentation is lovely and I have to say I really like this lipstick. This is so random but I love the smell of Rimmel lipsticks, which makes this even more appealing to wear. Although it has more of a metallic shimmer than I expected and wanted, it provides a subtle and understated look which is what I ultimately really wanted.

So overall I give this lipstick a big thumbs up. I’ve been wearing it a lot since I purchased it and I think it’s safe to say this will be a well-used item in my make-up collection. Although it may be too light for darker skin tones, I think for those of us who are a lot higher up on the pale scale, I’d say this fits the bill quite nicely.

Product Review | Rimmel Volume Flash Scandaleyes Mascara

20140904_180617

I’m the kind of person who has my holy grail items of make-up. They’re the items I always go back to at the end of the day, and I can always rely on them to consistently help create the make-up look I’m going for.

The mascara I’ve been using for years is Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara. This was the first mascara I ever used way back as a 14 year old, and despite trying others along the way, this was the one I always went back to. However, recently I was coming towards the end of my latest tube of it, and was going to do my usual, simple repurchase and carry on with my lashes coated in the product I knew I could always rely on. However, I came across an advert on Facebook explaining that Superdrug were selling the Rimmel Volume Flash Scandaleyes Mascara for £1.80 for 180 minutes online. I don’t know about you but I thought this was an absolute bargain, so naturally I quickly logged onto their site and ordered one into my local store. Due to the price I paid, I knew I wasn’t going to be too overly fussed if it turned out to be an awful mascara. No love, and not a lot of money was going to be lost ultimately.

I have mixed feelings towards this mascara. The brush is a lot bigger than what I was using previously, but I’ve grown to get used to it, and actually really enjoy using it now, gaining a full lash coverage with a lot less effort. The mascara itself coats my lashes nicely- it’s not too thick, or too thin in terms of its coverage, and has a pretty solid staying power. I however do find that my lashes stick together a bit when I use it, and I do sometimes find it clumps a bit, but it’s nothing that a lash comb can’t solve. Although this can be a bit frustrating, it’s not the end of the world, and as long as I’m walking out of the door with a look that I’m happy and confident with, how I achieve it doesn’t overly matter to me too much.

Finally, the packaging. I feel the packaging needs a whole paragraph of its own. It’s the most fluorescent orange colour I’ve ever seen on any make-up. I guess I’m so used to the sleek, simple black packaging of mascara that this couldn’t help but be a bit of a shock to me. Don’t get me wrong, of course this doesn’t and shouldn’t take away from the quality of the product inside it, but I can’t help but see it as a bit of an eyesore sat in my make-up bag. However, I can quite easily say that its colour is a bit of an advantage though, as I’m 99% certain I will never lose it!

Due to the amount I paid I’d say I’m pretty happy to continue persisting with this mascara, but its normal price of £6.99 is something that in the future I would probably be reluctant to pay for this product.
